Michael Bendit

Founder and President

Michael is the founder of BuyerRecommended Publications, an online resource created to serve a national audience of eCommerce companies seeking the most highly recommended design and development agencies across a broad range of platform and industry specialties. Since 2011, Michael has been successfully matching clients with the best global software development partners through his sales representation company, Software Development Resources.

Michael has over 30 years of experience in software and high tech as both a strategy consultant and marketing executive. Earlier in his career he was a Principal in the Communications, Media and Technology practice of Booz-Allen & Hamilton, an international management consultancy. In his most recent corporate roles, Michael served as VP Strategy and Marketing for Infocrossing, a data center services provider, and as Director of New Ventures at Bell Labs, a division of Lucent Technologies.

Michael holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and bachelor’s degrees in finance from the Wharton School and in computer science engineering from The University of Pennsylvania. He lives in New York City, is an avid sailor, and the proud father of three adult children.

Rick Watson is the founder of RMW Commerce Consulting a boutique consultancy specializing in the eCommerce industry. With over two decades of experience sharpening his operating skills in executive roles at industry leading firms, he is now advising eCommerce companies of all sizes in overcoming their roadblocks to growth.

Rick was one of the first employees at ChannelAdvisor (NYSE:ECOM) where he spent 10 years launching several of the company’s most innovative flagship services to accelerate sales for retailers and brands on eBay and Amazon. Rick was then recruited to initiate the third-party marketplace at Barnes & Noble.com, expanding the company’s product catalog by over 1M items. After the successful marketplace launch, Rick became CEO of Merchantry, a leading provider of product information management software, which he led to a $30M exit through acquisition by Tradeshift. Most recently, Rick directed the cross-border product strategy of Pitney Bowes, a $450M business, comprised of Borderfree and eBay Global Shipping Program.

Rick has been a featured speaker on Bloomberg, several global eCommerce industry events, and a contributor to the Wall Street Journal. He holds a M.S and B.S. from Vanderbilt University in Electrical Engineering.

Joe Apfelbaum is the CEO of Ajax Union, a B2B digital marketing agency based in Brooklyn, NY. Joe is a business strategist, marketing expert and certified Google trainer. He enjoys speaking and writing about marketing, business networking and personal development in his seminars, webinars and articles. Joe is also the host of the popular podcasts The Breakthrough Maze.

In High Energy Secrets, his most recent of 3 books, Joe shares his secrets on how he lost 95 pounds and to making flying selfies. He is the producer of GrowTime.tv and has published over 500 Mojovational Street Talk videos on YouTube. Joe is a contributing member of Entrepreneurs Organization in Brooklyn, a group with over 12,000 CEOs and an active member of Executives Association, a premiere business networking organization in NYC.

Prior to founding Ajax Union, Joe held positions as CMO of the eCommerce site TheWatchery.com and VP of Sales and Marketing at Rock Island group, a digital marketing agency. Joe is proud of all his accomplishments, but is most gratified by his purpose in life – his beautiful, amazing kids.

With a unique blend of marketing and technical skills, Mike guides his client to the right marketing strategies and the most efficient ways to execute them.

Mike is also the senior strategist at two digital marketing technology companies, SoloSegment which specializes in onsite search optimization, and Converseon, a social media data intelligence agency.

He is the author of three books on marketing technology, an active blogger and a frequent speaker, listed by the National Speakers Association as a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP). Mike is also a Senior Fellow of the Conference Board and member of the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO) Board of Directors. He holds 12 patents in search technology and was one of just 400 IBM Distinguished Engineers.
